Epoch 7 [Infinity Ground] VIP Update

1. TL;DR

This proposal updates the VIP (Vested Interest Program) scoring formula for [Infinity Ground].

2. Background

2.1 Current (Active) Scoring Formula:

User Score = User’s Onchain Play Count / Total Onchain Play Count

  • Onchain Play (100%)
    • Measured by how many times the user pays the $INIT entry fee to play.
    • Counted on-chain via wallet interactions with the game contract.

2.2 Reason for Change

The adjustment is driven by the upcoming launch of Infinity Ground’s full gaming platform, which will include multiple games beyond just Jump Jennie participating in the VIP scoring system. To better reflect user engagement across different games and incentivize active participation, we propose incorporating “Leaderboard Rank” into the VIP score.

This change not only rewards skilled and committed players but also enhances overall game competitiveness and user enjoyment. As more games are integrated into the ecosystem, a more dynamic and engagement-based scoring formula is essential to ensure fairness and continued excitement for the community.

3. Proposed Scoring Methodology

We will use the following formula to determine user scores and distribute INIT rewards each epoch:

Reward Formula: User Score = (Onchain Play Score × 80%) + (Leaderboard Rank Score × 20%)

  1. Onchain Play Score (80%)
    1. Measured by how many times the user pays the $INIT entry fee to play.
    1. Counted fully on-chain via wallet interactions with the game contract.
    1. Formula: User’s Onchain Play Score = User’s Play Count / Total Play Count
  1. Leaderboard Rank Score (20%)
  • Based on the user’s leaderboard rank at the end of each epoch. The ranking is recorded on-chain to ensure transparency and verifiability.

  • We use a linear share base system where:

    1. Share Base = (Total_Rank - Your_Rank + 1)

    (e.g., Rank 1 gets 100 Share Base, Rank 2 gets 99, …, Rank 100 gets 1)

    1. Total Share Base = 100 + 99 + … + 1 = 5050
  • Formula: User’s Leaderboard Score = Your Share Base / Total Share Base

4. Technical Implementation Plan

The updated VIP scoring formula will be implemented starting from Epoch 7 of the program.

gm! I love the direction but we need more clarity on the proposed changes and I have some questions.

  1. Why only 20% based on Leaderboard? I would assume that rewards based on the leaderboard are much more interesting. Do you plan to change this over time or can you start with a higher rank score from the get go?

  2. This leaderboard Rank Score mechanism is extremely vulnerable to Sybil attacks and should be adjusted.
    The current model does not take into account a user’s in game performance and only rank. Attackers could flood the game with low-effort accounts to dilute the reward pool, drastically reducing the share for top players despite their skill.
    Instead I would think about how you incentivize people who actually do well in the game. Some ideas that I think would help achieve this goal are:

  • Exponential Ranking (Total_Players - Rank + 1)^2. This would give rank one a huge number and lower ranks a much smaller one.
  • Performance Thresholds: Only the top 100 ranks get included in this part of the scoring, or only if you reach X in game threshold. Essentially a way to cut off the sybils.
